Greetings!#
This is a private wiki(-blog), set up by me, primarily to keep working notes handy if I dump into a known, but forgotten challenge.

If you are a programmer, you often spend days trying to figure out how something works, or how to set up something.
More often than not, the documentation for a product is poor, outdated, unprecise, too verbose or all of the above to make much sense. And you are in a hurry! Right?
So, you roam around the net, find some hints and beat the challenge, and go on your merry way.
Some time later you find yourself facing pretty much the exact same problem.. and of course, by then you only remember the solution very vaguely, if at all.
Rats! If you had only taken the time to document it to jog your memory now. A few notes would have done the trick, you lazy sod! :)
Well, I have been in this situation quite a number of times, and from now on I'm determined to document both trivial and not so trivial stuff that I tend to get stuck on, regarding programming and other tidbits.
For now the wiki-blog can only be updated by me, and it does not contain very much.
I make this wiki-blog publicly available so others may possibly find something useful.

Upgrades sounds good. Whenever I find one, I try it!
Upgraded the U-Boot loader of the SheevaPlugin, and was unable to boot the plug.
Took me the better part of 2 days to finally give up and reflash with an old(-er) boot loader.
Now, if I only had a clue as to how to upgrade the Debian stuff on this plug from the now dead 9.04 Debian/Ubuntu distribution....
I am not on friendly terms with Debian, Ubuntu and bootloaders at the moment!

So, here we go with the errors. The sheevaplug's Debian "networking" spontaneously switched to use DHCP instead of the static address I had defined, so my router was sending all HTTP traffic to a non-existing ip-address. What gives? Hate!

System up and running on a Sheevaplug
.JspWiki updated to 2.8.4, pages "converted".
--KaDaffy, 6-Feb-2011
Downtime due to exploring cat unplugging an ethernet cable.
Also, a Sheevaplug
has been purchased, so convertion from the old PC should be starting soon!--KaDaffy, 1-Feb-2011
Wiki have been unavailable for about a week after changing some virtual hosts in my Apache conf file. Seems I forgot to add the wiki JkMount directive to the correct virtual host. Darn!

More downtime. The exhaust fan on the attic caused a short circuit, cutting off all power. Forgot to turn on the server when fan was fixed and power was back up :)

More downtime. Seems gigabit NICs based on Realtek R8169 won't work well on Fedora. Not MY Fedora installation anyway. Good thing I bought 3 of these cards from a netshop that's gone out of business.
Crap! :)

Disabled a fried network card. Hopefully the server will stay up for a while now.

Back after 14 days in the US. Experienced first hand that even Florida can be cold as he** in the winter!
Seems my stupid server has been down for a day or two, not that the /var/log/ files make me any wiser.

More or less successfully installed Fedora Core 10, but not without a lot of swearing and cursing!
Finally had Fedora installation of Tomcat play nice with JSPWiki.
Failed at upgrading JSPWIki to 2.8.

(Seems timestamps did not survive the move. All are set at 28th November 2008. Oh, well..)
--KaDaffy, 30-Nov-2008
